Our Schools' History

Prescott is a vital piece of Oakland history! Ida Louise Jackson taught here starting in 1925 as Oakland's first African-American teacher. This was 13 years before any other school hired a Black teacher! Prescott has been home to students since 1869. See more of our history here and in-person!
